Adjustments
On adjustments in class.
I notice as I move around making small adjustments in class how some students are quick to come out of a posture before I can get to them! I know that there are those who are not comfortable with the intensity of a physical adjustment which can require a real trust in the process of sudden change and may result in resistance and increased tension in the body. It also draws attention and may not be welcomed by every student.
In contrast, some students respond positively to a spoken suggestion and instantly adjust themselves and explore alternative ways of finding their way into a posture.
Teaching is a constant learning process. Sometimes I wonder who is teaching who, but I am always grateful for the lessons.
Remember when you carry out your regular Yoga practice, give it your complete attention. Don't think about anything except the experience you are having right here in this moment. What is your body telling you about the experience?
